Faulty Fire Suppression System in Bangor
Recently, a Bangor-area aviation facility suffered a malfunction in their fire suppression system. Fortunately, there was no fire...but unfortunately, the system accidentally activated, causing hundreds of gallons of fire suppression foam to fill the facility. This particular foam could be extremely hazardous; it diminishes the oxygen levels in its immediate environment, but the area was fortunately well-ventilated.
The SERVPRO of Bangor/Ellsworth team was not the only company to respond to this major incident. While another company partnered with the Department of Environmental Protection to help remove the foam from the main hangar area and the surrounding areas, our crews were busy extracting the foam in the office portions of the structure.
It was a very intensive job; some of the rooms were filled with five feet or more of foam. Fortunately, we had the equipment and materials necessary to tackle this sort of problem!
